That Missing 'E': Why Our Name is Just P-I

You've probably noticed a conspicuous lack of "E" in our name. We’re not Pie Bakery, we're Pi Bakery. And, of course, there's a reason for that little bit of mathematical mischief.

Before the Flour and Cherries...

Before I was a baker, before I was even a mom, and long before I settled here in Wisconsin, I was an actuary. Many of you know this, and for others, I can practically hear the "Wait, what?!" through the screen. That’s right. My name is Keri, and I'm a math nerd.

I have a Bachelor's degree in math, and yes, I even voluntarily took a college course called Recreational Math—and loved it! For me, numbers aren't just work; they're fun too.

An Infinite Love of Pi

I've always been fascinated by the number π. That irrational constant starting with 3.14159 and continuing into infinity; it's just amazing to me. The area of a circle = πr² and a pie = a circle. And, let's be honest, I've always loved that it sounds exactly like pie.

So, when I finally decided to turn my passion into a business and start a bakery, there was really only one name (or perhaps, one number?) to choose. It was the perfect blend of my old life and my new one.

And speaking of our name, have you noticed a little visual secret hidden in our logo? Take a closer look at the steam coming off the freshly baked pie—it's not just random swirls! That steam was designed to subtly curve into the shape of the π symbol. It's just one more way we love blending my math-nerd background with the delicious treats we create. It shows that even the most fleeting element of our product—the steam rising as it cools—is a perfect nod to the number that started it all!

The name Pi is a fun tribute to my journey—proof that you can leave the spreadsheets behind, but you never really stop being a math nerd!
